What is Cogent Content?

In todays multi-gadget, ultra-connected world there is still no force more powerful than the written word.  After all, every video, audio, speech, presentation, commercial, pitch, and jingle was written first.

Cogent: ADJECTIVE: Appealing to the intellect or powers of reasoning; convincing: a cogent argument.

Content: NOUN:  The subject matter of a written work, such as a book or magazine.  (or, of course, a website)

1. The substantive or meaningful part: “The brain is hungry not for method but for content, especially content which contains generalizations that are powerful, precise, and explicit” (Frederick Turner).

Or, put another way, cogent content is words that work, or, even more bluntly, if it’s not cogent it’s a waste of words.

Are your words working, or is your website about as effective as those paper brochures in you store-room?

Browsers are famous for their short attention span, so every syllable counts.  A page without a compelling message is a reason to look elsewhere.

Cogent Content specializes in companies whose owner operators are too busy running the company to build a website.  Whether it is optimizing your existing copy for search engines, offering a free report, case study, or white paper as lead generating tools, autoresponder e-mails to follow-up those leads, or a site audit, Cogent Content can help.

Cogent Content is all about the steak, and is perfectly happy to leave the sizzle up to others.  The web is loaded with sites featuring glitzy graphics that are so distracting the first thing you do when you get there is forget what you were looking for.

A website without Cogent Content is just clutter.
